Man charged following Cheriton murder investigation

A man has been charged with murder as part of the investigation into the death of 68-year-old Gilly Livie in Cheriton.

Gilly was found at an address off the B3046, after we were called at around 10.30am on Friday 9 January.

Despite the best efforts of attending officers and our colleagues in the ambulance service, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man was also located at the address and he was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

On Monday 19 January, he was arrested on suspicion of murder, and later that day he was taken from hospital and into police custody.

This evening (Tuesday 20 January), Daniel Livie, 39, of Winstreet Close, Alton, has been charged with murder.

He has also been charged with threats to kill, in relation to alleged threats made to a man on Thursday 8 January.

He is due to appear before Portsmouth Magistrates Court tomorrow (Wednesday 21 January).
